Acne chemical peel: how it works and why it works

Before and after
Before and after

This new method of fighting acne is particularly useful when the skin is inflamed, with pimples, blackheads and other imperfections. The sessions involve the application of a cream based on some chemical substances which, after being brushed on the skin, begin to act.

Generally 4 or 5 sessions are enough to start having tangible results. However, it is a question of a variable that depends on the extent of the problem, the patient’s response and other strictly personal factors. After the treatment, the skin may appear red and irritated but this is a temporary effect that usually wears off in a few days.

The chemical peel should always be followed in the clinics and possibly away from the summer season . In fact, in the immediately following days it is contraindicated to expose yourself to the sun. In addition, in some cases, home care may be prescribed between sessions in order to maintain stable results and improve the condition of the skin until the next peeling. It is also always useful to follow a suitable diet .

When is it best to avoid face peeling for acne?

Like any personal care treatment, there are cases where acne face peeling may be contraindicated. This is particularly the case if you have infections, inflammatory dermatitis , abrasions or open wounds and allergy to components. Therapy is also not recommended if you are taking photosensitizing drugs and if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

As always, before taking action, it is always better to ask your doctor for advice. Also useful to direct you to the type of treatment that best suits your situation .
