A practical guide to prepare an eco-friendly DIYdetergent, to save money and to avoid polluting!
Find out the best methods to make a good DIY detergent for your dishwasher, dish and floors. We will also give you some advice to save energy and avoid waste in an ecologic and funny way.
In order to do so, you just need some ingredients you surely already have in your pantry! Find out how to always have clean, scented and fresh dishes, laundry and house!
DIY floor detergent
For your floors, you need the right eco-friendly products, according to their material.
Marble or stone floor
In this case, you can follow this recipe: mix 3 liters of boiling water with 3 tablespoons of baking soda, 5 tablespoons of denaturated alcohol and a piece of Marseilles soap. Stir until homogeneous, then use it to clean your marble or stone floors.
You need to be more careful if you have this type of floors, because they are more delicate. For this reason, you need to reduce the doses. Mix 3 liters of lukewarm or cold water with 1 tablespoon of baking soda and a piece of Marseilles soap. Once a month, add to this mixture 1 tablespoon of linseed oil, which will hydrate the wood and make it shinier.
DIY laundry detergent
This product is very easy to make. Boil 5 liters of water. In the meanwhile, grate a bar of Marseilles soap. When the water is boiling, turn the stove off and add the soap. Add 5 tablespoons of baking soda and, if you like, add drops of essential oils. Stir well and let sit for an entire day. Your laundry detergent is ready!
Marseilles soap’s power of removing stains perfectly combines with the disinfectant action of baking soda. What if you want to soften your laundry? Just add some vinegar in the washing machine pan and your clothes will be soft and clean.
DIY dish detergent
Make a perfect natural product with the following ingredients: 40% of lemon, 40% of water, 10% of white vinegar and 10% of salt. Blend all the ingredients, then boil the mixture for 10-15 minutes until thickened.
The dishwasher hot temperatures allow to clean your dishes without chemical residues. Store your DIY eco-friendly detergent in airtight jars. The natural products you make do not expire, so you can produce large quantities.
If you start replacing chemical products with natural ones, you will safeguard the environment. Moreover, you will reduce waste, because you will reuse their bottles. Both the environment and your wallet will thank you!
