Let’s see how to prepare a DIY hand cream for dry and cracked skin, following one of grandma’s old remedies.
Cold temperatures, wind, too aggressive detergents and soaps make your hands very dry and cracked. On the market, there are many useful creams to solve this problem, but there is no product efficient like a good DIY hand cream.
Our grandmothers passed down a lot of recipes, easy to make with cheap and easy-to-find ingredients. Let’s see some of them.
DIY hand cream: 2 recipes
– Shea butter cream against cracked hands. Shea butter is one of the best ingredients to deeply nourish and renew the skin, because it is rich in fatty acids and vitamin E. In order to make the cream, you need: 180gr of shea butter, 175ml of sweet almond oil, a tablespoon of corn starch and the essential oils you like. Melt the butter in the microwave or in a pan, stirring to avoid clumps. Then, add the other ingredients and blend until you obtain a homogeneous cream you will store in a jar with a lid.
– Coconut oil homemade hand cream. Another natural product perfect to nourish dry skin and protect it is coconut oil. You can use it to make a nicely scented cream. The ingredients are: 3 tablespoons of coconut oil, 3 tablespoons of beeswax, 80ml of jojoba oil, 80gr of cocoa butter and the essential oils you like. Put coconut oil, jojoba oil, cocoa butter and beeswax in a steel pot and cook on a low heat, keeping stirring. When the product is homogeneous, add some drops of essential oils, stir and pour it in a glass jar.
