Gastritis: here are the foods to prefer (and those to avoid)

Gastritis can have several causes, including poor nutrition. Let’s see which foods to eat and which ones to avoid.
Gastritis is a very annoying disorder, characterized by pain, heartburn and stomach acid. The causes can be different, for example stress , poor nutrition, taking some medicines or a Helicobacter Pylori infection.
For adequate care, it is obviously essential to consult a doctor, who will be able to identify the cause of stomach pain. In any case, it is always advisable to follow a diet for gastritis, avoiding some foods that can worsen its symptoms. Let’s see what they are.
Gastritis: foods to avoid
First of all, you should avoid foods rich in fats , which can increase the secretion of acid by the stomach, such as meat and fatty and / or preserved fish, fatty cheeses (especially fermented ones, such as gorgonzola), dried fruit, heavy fries and condiments.

Other foods to avoid with gastritis are acidic ones , such as tomatoes, citrus fruits, coffee, tea, carbonated drinks, wine and in general all alcohol. The spices are extremely damaging, especially pepper. Milk, sweets and refined foods can also worsen heartburn. Finally, all foods that cause air in the intestine, including broccoli, cabbage, onions and legumes, must be eliminated from the diet.
What to eat with gastritis
In addition to avoiding foods that cause stomach acid, it is useful to consume some that, instead, buffer the discomfort. Among these we find white meat , lean fish, light fresh cheeses , wholemeal bread, rice and pasta wholemeal and cooked al dente and in general all foods rich in fiber .
The fruit to choose is non-acidic and rich in antioxidants, such as apples, figs and bananas . Very important, then, is to cook food in a simple way, for example in the steam, in the oven or in foil.
