Traveling across the border, you can find many special Christmas recipes. One of these, which we want to recommend given the period we are going to meet, is that of vin glögg. It is a typical drink, traditionally prepared during the Christmas holidays . A spiced wine, which should be served hot.
The basis for this preparation is a good red wine . To this must be mixed other ingredients with strong flavors, such as raisins, cinnamon, cloves, almonds, nutmeg, oranges. In short, it is appropriate to say that in this Scandinavian mulled wine “the more you have, the more you put”. The recipe will certainly appeal to all guests, but you can also customize it according to various tastes.
Preparation of the recipe for the glögg
- To start, pour the red wine into a saucepan.
- Add the brandy and sugar.
- Also add the dried raisins, chopped almonds and orange peel, cut.
- Bring the saucepan over the heat and cook over medium-low heat . In the first few minutes, stir to dissolve the sugar.
- Flavor with cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger.
- Cook for 30 minutes and stir from time to time to prevent it from boiling.
- After this time, filter the mixture. Distribute the hot wine in the glasses and serve it.
As in the area of origin, use this Swedish mulled wine to welcome guests on colder days. The original recipe is ready in minutes and the result can be stored for up to three months . Put the glögg in an airtight glass bottle and place it in the fridge . If necessary, heat it in a saucepan, without bringing it to a boil.
