We often look for ways to improve memory by neglecting the most important factor: nutrition. Let’s find out the four foods that help us keep the brain in great shape.

We often look for ways to improve memory by neglecting the most important factor: nutrition . In fact, having a balanced diet is one of the most important factors when it comes to keeping your brain in shape .

However, there are some nutrients that affect memory more than others. In today’s article we will discover 4 foods that help keep the brain in great shape .

The blue fish

When it comes to foods that can improve our memory, we can’t forget about blue fish . In fact, this variety of fish contains within it the same fats of which, for a large part, our brain is also composed.

In addition to blue fish, we can turn to cod . In fact, although this fish does not fall into the category, it has characteristics very similar to anchovies , mackerel and sardines .

What makes these fish excellent for our brain are the large quantities of fatty acids , omega 3 in particular, iodine and phosphorus contained within them. We must also not forget about vitamin E , which helps our brain cells renew themselves.

Choline

To protect our neurons , we must take choline : an organic compound only partially synthesized by the body, which must therefore be integrated with the diet.

Unfortunately, foods containing this essential nutrient are rare, which is intended to support the structure of neurons , improving synapses. One of the few foods to contain this substance is chicken egg , considered an excellent ally against the development of dementia and Alzheimer’s.

Also recommended for pregnant women , as they would help improve the cognitive abilities of the unborn child, the eggs should be consumed whole, two or three times a week.

The chocolate

As shown by several studies, chocolate can prove to be a great ally of our brain, as long as this is dark for at least 70%.

Chocolate is in fact rich in flavonoids, which promote antioxidant activities and improve memory and mood . All this happens because these natural compounds stimulate the production of monoxide of nitrogen, a substance that promotes an increase in blood flow to the brain, effectively helping it in its functions.

Pumpkin seeds

Pumpkin seeds are another food to consider if you want to improve your memory. In fact, these seeds are rich in zinc , a fundamental chemical element if the goal is to improve the performance of your brain.

In addition, pumpkin seeds are rich in magnesium and tryptophan , excellent against stress and promoters of good mood.

In any case, it is good to remember that the most important aspect is maintaining a balanced diet . These foods are excellent for improving memory, but should be consumed in moderation : abuse will only have negative effects.
