Who said that only by drinking can we reintroduce liquids and mineral salts that are lost due to the intense heat ? In the summer, it rains advice on how important it is to drink at least 2 liters of water a day, to avoid problems related to dehydration. Important tips, of course, but which should also take into account what we eat. There are in fact foods that are very rich in water , and for this reason they help us stay hydrated. Let’s find out which are the best.
The 5 super moisturizing foods
In summer, especially when it is so hot, we should always be with a bottle of water in hand. The risk of dehydration is in fact quite concrete and, since we know well that prevention is better than cure, we must not underestimate the importance of drinking often. But nutrition can also help us: the water in food also hydrates our body.
Watermelon
What does a lot of water contain? Of course, the fruit! In particular, in summer we can indulge ourselves with watermelon: it is made up of 92% water, and is also rich in vitamins and minerals. And then did you know that lycopene , a substance that gives watermelon its red color, is a powerful antioxidant? It reduces the side effects of free radicals, decreases the risks of cellular aging, cardiovascular diseases and neurodegenerative pathologies, and also protects the skin from harmful exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet rays .
Cucumber
To season a fresh summer salad , there is nothing better. Cucumber is rich in water (96% of it is composed) and many other important nutrients. For example, it contains vitamin C and caffeic acid , both very useful for protecting the skin from the sun’s rays and for soothing skin irritation due to sunburn.

Tomato
Vegetable highly appreciated especially in summer, the tomato is typical of the Mediterranean diet and has an important water content – about 94%. Among its many properties, the antioxidant and diuretic action stand out: it helps to eliminate toxins from the body. Be careful though if you suffer from stomach problems. Tomato is very acidic and stimulates the production of gastric juices, therefore it is not recommended in case of ulcer, gastric reflux or heartburn.
Fishing
Among the most moisturizing summer fruits we can not help but mention peach . Delicious and juicy, it is made up of 91% water and contains many vitamins and minerals. Did you know that a single peach covers 15% of the daily requirement of vitamin C ? In addition, this fruit helps keep the heart in shape and regulates pressure.
Carrot
If you love sunbathing, don’t forget to add carrots to your diet. In addition to being rich in water (their content is almost 93%), they also possess excellent quantities of beta – carotene , which gives the skin a light tan. But not only that: it reduces the risk of certain types of cancer and protects the coronaries.
