A first remedy to remove bad smells is to prepare a mixture with half a cup of white vinegar and two tablespoons of baking soda. Rub it on the surface of the basket, then turn it on at 30°C or 40°C for about fifteen minutes; leave the door open for about ten minutes before running a new wash.
If you frequently use it, you should run a refreshing wash with the washing machine empty once a week. Prepare a powerful degreasing and disinfectant solution by maxing vinegar, lemon and baking soda. Rub it on the inside of the basket and start the machine at 90 °C, in order to disinfect thoroughly. This process is particularly indicated after having washed rugs, rags or very dirty cloths, in order to remove all possible residue and bad smells from the washing machine.
In order to clean the filters and avoid the formation of limescale, pour white wine vinegar or apple cider vinegar in the dispenser and make an empty wash at 90 °C for thirty minutes. If you do not like the smell of vinegar, you can add some drops of lavender or vanilla essential oil in the detergent dispenser.

– Once the wash has finished, don’t forget the clothes in the basket with the door closed. The risk is that moisture can grow. Moreover, other than having to wash your clothes again, they will also smell bad.
– When you wash very dirty cloths or garments, add a few drops of essential oil to the detergent. This trick will help you to have more fragrant clothes and a cleaner washing machine.
