With the ever-expanding coronavirus, all possible measures must be taken to try to limit contagions. The best way to do this is undoubtedly to stay at home , absolutely avoiding going to crowded places. Unfortunately, there are situations where it is not possible to stay indoors. In these cases, there is a tool that helps decrease the chances of infecting other people: the mask. However, the masks in the latter period are increasingly difficult to find and increasingly expensive .

In today’s article we will find out how to overcome this problem by making a DIY fabric mask.

DIY cloth mask, the necessary materials

Before you can make a DIY fabric mask, you need to get some materials . First, we need to get the stuff . One piece will suffice. The dimension? At least twenty 20cm by 40cm. After that, get a ruler or a tape measure and scissors .

In addition, you will need to get everything you need for sewing : needle and thread or, if you have one, the sewing machine. Finally, get some rubber bands . As the latter will be the support that will allow you to wear the mask, it is advisable to use fabric elastics, of the kind usually used for sewing.

How to make the DIY mask for coronavirus

Making a DIY fabric mask is simpler than you might think. To begin with, take the piece of fabric and cut two squares with a side of 20cm from it.

After doing this, insert the elastics on both sides , remembering that they will be passed behind the ears to support the mask. As a result, the length of the elastic will vary from person to person. It is necessary to insert an elastic on each side, with the two ends at the corners of the square , at a distance of about a centimeter or two from the edge.

After that, place the fabric on a surface with the side from which the elastic bands have been attached facing upwards . Place the other square of fabric on it, making all the edges fit together. Once this is done, sew all four sides and the template will be ready for use.
