How to do a home gym? Here are the basic rules to follow for a fun and effective workout.
Working out at home, especially in the period of the Covid-19 pandemic, has become quite common. However, you do not always have an idea of how to organize yourself to ensure that the training is actually effective . And this, in the long run, can lead to losing consistency and desire to do. The good news is that very few tricks are needed to build a small home gym and make it efficient. Let’s find out what they are and how to best start.
Creating a home gym: how to do it for an optimal result
The first thing to do when deciding to train at home is to find a suitable space. This must be as free as possible from furniture or objects that could break.
Obviously, the ideal would be to have a special room that you can use as a gym. If this is not possible, however, you can opt for your own bedroom or living room . The advice is to choose an environment where there is a TV (alternatively you can use the laptop) and which provides a corner where you can store your tools. Generally a wardrobe or a storage compartment are just fine.
Once this is done, you must take care of choosing the tools to be included in your personal gym. The first and essential is a good mat on which to perform the various exercises. To this we will then add weights, elastic bands, anklets and all that is believed to be useful.
If you are fasting sports, you can easily start with just the mat and two half-liter bottles to be filled with water or sand. Obviously, the sporty outfit must not be missing. You will therefore also have to bring comfortable clothing, towels and sneakers.
How to work out at home the right way
Now that we have seen how to set up a home gym, it is important to focus on training . If you haven’t been training for a long time, it might be useful to start with a few sessions in the gym with a personal trainer or at least with an initial video chat to get the basic information and be correct in the various positions. Alternatively, you can choose to search the web for basic exercises, starting perhaps by walking on the spot to train with the breath and continuing slowly. Of course, going for a walk can also be a good start.
In general, you can start by alternating some cardio (even running on the spot and really basic exercises) with others to do with weights in order to train the muscles as well. There are many mini courses (also available for smartphones) that illustrate correct and wrong exercises and positions and that can help you take your first steps.
What matters is never to overdo it, not to be in a hurry. Wanting to do too much can in fact lead to strains and contractures that would end up slowing down the results anyway.
