Kombucha: properties and benefits
This drink mainly has detox properties for all the body, thanks to its content of glucuronic acid, that promotes toxin and uric acid elimination. Moreover, as for all fermented drinks, it helps rebalancing the intestine bacterial flora, curing constipation and getting rid of diarrhea.
Kombucha is also very good to cure gout, arthritis, arteriosclerosis, hemorrhoids, kidney stones, gastritis and digestive problems. Thanks to its natural antibiotic and antifungal properties, it is also very useful to prevent and cure intestinal candida.
But that’s not all: according to some studies, this fermented tea could also help preventing cancer, thanks to the presence of Dextrogyral (L-lactic acid +), a substance that hinders the development of cancer cells.
How to make Kombucha tea
Obtaining this tea at home is very easy. The ingredients are: kombucha mushroom, cane sugar, water, apple cider vinegar and black or green tea. The mushroom is just a round-shaped culture of yeasts and bacteria: you can buy it online or in shops selling natural products.
In order to prepare kombucha, you need to infuse the tea (two teaspoons or two bags for each liter of water) for 15 minutes. Filter it and, before it cools down, add 100 grams of sugar for each liter. When it has cooled down, pour it in a glass jar, add the mushroom and a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar. Cover the jar with a cloth and fasten it with an elastic band. Let the drink ferment for 6-12 days, then filter and drink it.
Kombucha: side effects
Although it is considered an actual miracle drink, according to some researchers there are some side effects to consider when drinking this special tea. First of all, it is necessary to remember that this product is alive, therefore it is very difficult to analyze. As a consequence, you need to drink it carefully.
For example, you don’t have to keep it in ceramic jars, or it can become toxic! Moreover, according to some studies this tea led to liver problems… therefore, if you have any doubt, it is better to talk with a nutritionist!
