But it is certainly not the only reason why many women resort to this type of massage: in fact, lymphatic drainage massage can also stimulate the reabsorption of edemas and accelerate the healing of ulcers and sores for those suffering from diabetes. Lymphatic drainage against cellulite: how is it done?

Manual lymphatic drainage is a massage that is used in the aesthetic and medical fields. It is also known by the name of Method Vodder thanks to its creator: it was a Danish doctor Emil Vodder who devised this technique.

The movements are then practiced on the lymph nodes in order to reactivate the circulation of the lymph to avoid accumulations. It is highly recommended for those suffering from cellulite as it allows to reactivate the metabolism , also avoiding swelling in the legs.

Over the years, numerous techniques have been developed, but the only one that is most used after the Vodder method is the Leduc method. The latter is divided into a recall and a reabsorption maneuver and only deals with the necessary area. The first maneuver aims to empty the lymphatic collectors; the second, on the other hand, favors the reabsorption of liquids inside the vessels.

In addition, it is also beneficial for fighting acne and for fighting respiratory tract infections such as sinusitis, pharyngitis and tonsillitis.

What are the contraindications?

Before we can resort to the lymphatic drainage massage, let’s not forget to ask the right person for advice. In fact, it could be advised against those suffering from tuberculosis, in the case of tumors or acute infections. Instead, it must be done with care in case of hyperthyroidism, kidney and heart failure.
