Being rich in beneficial properties, it is also widely used in herbal medicine , aromatherapy and in the cosmetic sector, due to the high presence of vitamin C, essential oils and tannins.

It can be eaten fresh and stored in the refrigerator for a few days, or dried by placing it in a glass jar hermetically sealed away from the sun. Marjoram in the kitchen: how to use it

This plant is very versatile and can be used for the preparation of multiple dishes such as first courses, main courses, vegetables, legumes and omelettes. If used at the end of cooking it can give the dishes a touch of freshness and extra flavor. For example, try to prepare a simple recipe with legumes . Use beans or chickpeas, add fresh tomatoes and a little bacon. Bake in the oven and add the marjoram leaves in the oven for five minutes. The dish will acquire a unique and characteristic flavor.

Marjoram is divinely combined with all savory walnut dishes. This combination is among the best in the kitchen and finds its maximum expression in the preparation of doughs for walnut bread, walnut canapés or walnut pasta sauce.

Also try the combination with fatty cheeses . Excellent gorgonzola, taleggio and brie. Add the marjoram to other Mediterranean herbs and use them to season or prepare these cheeses. The combination is divine.

Marjoram: uses in the healing field

Marjoram finds space in the preparation of natural remedies for bad digestion . Boil about 200 ml of water and add a teaspoon of dry leaves to it. Let stand for ten minutes and strain. Excellent remedy in case of anxiety and insomnia . After preparing an infusion of marjoram put a few drops on a tissue and breathe in the aroma. It will help you relax and promote natural night’s rest.

Also to be tried in case of rheumatism and muscle pain . Make lavender compresses using dry leaves or an infusion. Place a cloth soaked in marjoram on the painful area and leave for about half an hour. Repeat two or three times a day.
