Basil essential oil is an excellent natural pain reliever and anti-inflammatory . It can be used in different situations. It is very efficient in case of muscle pain and spasms due to its pain-relieving properties and helps fight joint pain thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties.
These two properties can also be useful in case of insect bites , a situation in which this essence will help reduce burning and itching.
The aforementioned effects are certainly the most important but they are not the only ones. In fact, basil essential oil is an excellent anti-congestant , excellent against firm phlegm and other symptoms derived from it. In addition, it can be taken to promote digestion , as it helps to rebalance the intestinal microbiome.
Uses and contraindications of essential basil oil
Basil essential oil is one of the essential oils that can be taken orally . In fact, by diluting a couple of drops in a teaspoon of olive oil or, if you prefer, sugar, you can take advantage of its beneficial effects for the stomach and intestines .
To combat muscle and joint pain or against insect bites, you can use the essence and spread it on the affected area. However, it is always good to avoid using pure essential oil: diluting it is the best solution. A couple of drops in 15 ml of vegetable oil or a few drops in a neutral cream will do just fine.
Finally, to get rid of the blocked phlegm, it is possible to take it by air through a diffuser of aromas and essential oils. This will also help fight stress and anxiety but, for a better effect, you could try basil tea .
In the correct doses, this essence should not present any side effects . It is however advisable not to take doses higher than ideal and not to use it in pregnant or breastfeeding subjects. In addition, it is better not to use it in children .
