An improper posture or a wrong movement may cause rather annoying muscle pains. In order to avoid pain to increase, you should treat it immediately. Medications are not always necessary, as you can use grandma’s home remedies for immediate relief.
However, these are homemade medications which can not replace conventional medicine. If you are experiencing rather strong or worrisome pains, you should always see your doctor and potentially integrate the therapy with DIY remedies. Find out how to prepare these remedies at home!
Muscle pain: DIY remedies
The first thing to do in case of mild or strong pain is to apply ice. Put ice directly on the sore area and leave it for about 10 minutes. Repeat three or four times per day.
Speaking about products to apply on the area, arnica is a panacea. You can buy it in gel at the herbalist’s shop and lightly massage it on the sore area, two or three times a day. You can also try aloe vera, which has a strong soothing power.
Clay has anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, long appreciated and recognized. Thanks to its thermo-absorbent action, it soothes inflammations and relieves pain.
Prepare a clay poultice by pouring in a bowl a tablespoon of water, half tablespoon of oil and, slowly, two tablespoons of green clay. Mix with a wooden spoon until well blended. Finally, add some drops of lavender or aloe vera essential oils and apply it directly on the sore area.
Leg pain compresses
Leg pains are very common, especially after a certain age. One of grandma’s home remedy is cabbage compresses. They are sensational and give immediate relief.
How do you prepare them? Blanch and cool down one or two cabbage leaves, then put them on the sore area and leave them for 30 minutes. Leaves will absorb both the inflammation and toxins, soothing the tension caused by pain and immediately cleansing your body.
Another remedy you can try is nettle or sage compresses. You can apply nettle directly on your leg. Instead, if you want to use sage, you need to boil two tablespoons of leaves in a liter of water for 10 minutes. Let it cool and then apply where needed.
