Art and music can help patients suffering from Parkinson’s disease to maintain their mobility for as long as possible!
People with Parkinson’s disease can improve their life quality and maintain their mobility for as long as possible through music and art. Specialized doctors must follow them and use the right tools.
The Istituto degli Innocenti of Florence and the Fresh Foundation launched the international Fresh workshop, organized by the New York University and dedicated to people suffering from the Parkinson’s disease. The initiative staged from November 14 to 17, 2018. The name of the event was Art and music: from perception to rehabilitation.
Parkinson’s disease: treatments are possible thanks to the art and music!
During the event, many local and international doctors and experts explained the effectiveness of art and music on patient suffering from this disease. Actually, music might improve mental flexibility.
The event finished with the explanation and the scientific proof that music and art are a starting point for the rehabilitation of Parkinson’s disease patients.
Florence also stages “Free Body. Living art with Parkinson’s disease“, where patient suffering from this disease interacted with Marina Abramovic works. This exhibition is called The Cleaner and is completely dedicated to people with this disease. You can visit it from September 21, 2018 until January 20, 2019.
This is not the only initiative which connects a disease to art. Actually, Canadian doctors prescribe free museum visits as a therapy.
