In the fall, everyone is crazy about the pomegranate! It is a fruit with excellent beneficial properties, from which a very good juice can be obtained. Here’s how to prepare it.
The pomegranate is a fruit not yet so widespread in our country, but which deserves a lot of attention. Typical of the autumn season , it is a concentrate of mineral salts, vitamins and antioxidants. In addition to being consumed fresh, a good juice can be obtained, which is a real panacea for our health. Here are all the benefits of pomegranate juice.
The pomegranate: its properties
The pomegranate (also called pomegranate, to distinguish the fruit from the plant on which it is born) has earned the name of superfood . This is because it contains an exceptional amount of nutrients that have so many benefits for the body.
First of all, pomegranate is rich in water and helps maintain good hydration . It is also a valid ally for our immune system, thanks to the high concentrations of vitamin C and iron. The fiber content promotes digestion and intestinal activity and also has a protective action on the gastric mucosa.
The potassium contained in this fruit promotes diuresis and the elimination of waste and toxins, thus carrying out a strong purifying action. Furthermore, pomegranate contains many antioxidants : ellaic acid supports heart function and counteracts the presence of “bad” cholesterol in the blood.
It also promotes cell regeneration and tissue repair, as well as fighting free radicals. Tannins and polyphenols have an antitumor action , in particular against prostate and breast cancer. Finally, its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties help fight infections of the gastrointestinal, respiratory and urinary systems.
Pomegranate juice: how to prepare it
At the supermarket you can easily find packaged pomegranate juice , so that you always have a supply. But you can also prepare it at home, starting with the whole fruit. If you have a pomegranate squeezer , just wash it well under running water and cut it in two, then squeeze it vigorously.
Of course, you can also make juice without a specific accessory. For example, did you know you can use a potato masher ? After peeling the pomegranate and removing the white membrane, divide it into pieces and mash it until you get a uniform juice .
If, on the other hand, you have a juicer or an extractor, then all you have to do is insert the pieces of fruit into the container and let the appliance do the work for you. Remember that pomegranate juice should be consumed freshly prepared to take advantage of all its benefits. However, you can keep it for a few hours in the refrigerator.
