Red (and stressed) skin from the cold? Try these natural remedies

Red skin

In winter, having red and cracked skin is very common. Let’s see what are the causes and natural remedies to try.

As soon as winter arrives, do you begin to struggle with red, cracked and irritated skin ? Don’t worry, it’s normal: cold, wind and temperature changes put a strain on sensitive skin.

Fortunately, if it is not dermatitis or other conditions and the redness is only due to the cold, there are several natural remedies that solve the problem. Let’s see which ones!

Red skin on the face: the causes

Having red facial skin in winter is normal: cold, wind, sudden changes in temperature and too aggressive detergents damage the skin barrier, depriving the skin of its natural protection.

In case of red and itchy skin , with spots, blisters or pimples, it is however better to consult a dermatologist, because it could be some pathology, such as dermatitis, eczema, acne or rosacea .

Red skin: grandmother’s remedies

The first thing to do when winter arrives is to change cosmetics : the cleansers must be creamy and delicate, the soothing tonic and the nourishing and protective cream. Better to buy a face cream for sensitive and reddened skin at the pharmacy, to use every day before leaving home.

It is also very important to wash your face using warm water , neither too cold nor too hot, and dry it by gently dabbing a soft towel on the skin.

An effective grandmother’s remedy for redness is chamomile . Every evening, after cleansing the face, prepare an infusion with chamomile flower heads, let it cool and use it instead of the tonic, applying it with a cotton pad. You can also make a compress to leave on the face for half an hour or more , using sterile gauze to wet with chamomile.

Always in the evening, before going to bed, apply a few drops of jojoba oil or a little shea butter to reddened skin, preferably enriched with vitamin E.
