Reflux cough: symptoms

Gastroesophageal reflux cough can present itself as either a dry, persistent cough or a greasy, phlegm cough. For this reason it is often confused with other types of cough. The problem is that treating it with antibiotics or drugs intended for other diseases proves useless and can often even lead to worsening. This is why it is always good to learn to recognize it. – Difficulty swallowing

It typically occurs as a form of cough after eating, when lying down, or during the night.

When you have a cough associated with these symptoms, it is important to consult a doctor to investigate the problem. Which should also be done in case of cough that is not cured with anything. And this is because at times, gastric reflux and cough can be almost asymptomatic, having just a cough and a few other symptoms that are quite common as an alarm bell.

Reflux cough: the remedies

As this is a major problem, reflux cough should be treated as a pathology. This means that the only way is to contact the attending physician and understand the causes together.

Whether it is a physiological problem or due to food allergies or other reasons, nutrition is always a way to intervene in order to obtain positive results. For example, greasy and heavy foods, hot spices , carbonated drinks, sweets, coffee and tea can be eliminated. And you can opt to never go to sleep immediately after eating and stay light at dinner.

As for natural remedies, baking soda can often bring some relief. If diet alone is not enough, your doctor may consider administering antacids.
