Causes of swollen lips
Allergies are among the first causes of sudden lip swelling and burning. They can be triggered by something you ate, or by spicy foods. Insect bites can also cause this problem, especially in summer.
Another possible cause is lip herpes. It usually happens when the immune system is stressed (in case of flue, stress or cold, for example). Cosmetics can also be responsible of lip swelling. Therefore, be careful and do not use low quality or expired lipsticks, always read the label for the ingredients and store them in the right way.

Swollen lips: remedies
For a quick remedy, you can use ice. Put some ice cubes in a kitchen cloth and place it on the swollen lips for about 5 minutes. Pause for 2 minutes and repear for 2 or 3 times.
Another amazing remedy is aloe vera. Thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties, it helps soothing the burning feeling. Use the aloe leaf gel and massage it where it hurts.
A classic method to solve the problem of swollen lips is a mix with baking soda, very helpful in case of insect bites or allergies. Mix a tablespoon of this product with a few drops of water until creamy, then apply it on your lips. Let it act for 10 minutes, then rinse with fresh water.
