Some studies also suggested that black cherries have an anti-cancer power. Anthocyanins would stop the growth of cancer cells, especially when it comes of colon cancer. Moreover, they can prevent other types of tumors.
Furthermore, their polyphenols fight inflammations and prevent oxidative stress. Their quercetin, instead, helps lowering the blood bad cholesterol levels, protecting the heart and the entire vascular system.
Black cherries are also a powerful painkiller, especially against muscle problems due to intense exercising. Finally, because they are rich in melatonin, they have relaxing properties and promote sleeping, other than reducing anxiety and stress.
Side effects
Everyone can eat this fruit, as long as there is no hypersensitivity to its active ingredients. Moreover, there are no particular interactions with any medicine – just think that black cherry juice is often used to fight the bad taste of medicines. The only people who need to be careful when they eat this fruit are those who suffer from intestinal problems. Their content of fibers make black cherries a bit laxative.
