The classic hummus has been very popular in recent years. A recipe that comes from Jerusalem, and with a taste of the East: today we propose it again adapted. The hummus trio is a delicious and natural appetizer, as well as suitable for vegans and vegetarians. The traditional recipe calls for chickpeas, while we made a small change by dividing the mixture into 3 parts and adding carrots, olives and beets. Each additional ingredient gives the sauce a different taste, as well as a vibrant and inviting color. To start the meal in the best way: let’s see how to prepare it!

Preparation of the hummus trio recipe

  1. The basic recipe for making your hummus trio is the traditional one. Blend the cooked chickpeas with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil, the tahini, the lemon, the garlic clove, a pinch of paprika, curry, cumin and a few drops of Tabasco if you like the taste. Then season with salt.
  2. Then divide the mixture into three equal parts in 3 separate bowls .
  3. For the first preparation, blend the olives in a blender and add them to the chickpea mixture.
  4. For the second, wash well and peel the carrots, and then proceed to blend them. Add them to the second bowl with the blended chickpeas.
  5. Finally, for the third preparation, blend the precooked beetroot and add it to the last pan.
  6. Mix each preparation carefully before serving.

Your trio of hummus is ready: serve it on bruschetta or on wedges of piadina. And if you want the classic hummus recipe , all you have to do is omit the preparation of the 3 variants .


This quick and easy dish can be safely stored in the refrigerator, inside a container with an airtight lid and for up to 3 days . We do not recommend freezing in the freezer.
