Ovarian stimulation: what is the technique used by the wives of J-Ax and Pintus
What is ovarian stimulation? It is a technique that allows you to increase the chances of having a child.
Unfortunately, not all women are able to have a child naturally or easily. Ovarian stimulation increases the chances of getting pregnant because it is a treatment aimed at increasing the production of follicles. Let's see what it consists of and what the risks are.
Ovarian stimulation: what it is and how it works
Ovarian stimulation is a technique that involves the administration of hormones to the woman to encourage a greater production of mature follicles, in order to obtain a good ovulation. Generally, this medical procedure is used to help a patient get pregnant, either naturally or with in vitro artificial insemination. Before stimulation, the specialist subjects the woman to a series of tests , such as: cervical mucus analysis, measurement of the basal temperature curve, pelvic ultrasound and hormone dosage. Only then will we proceed with the treatment.
This technique involves various stimulation protocols and as many medicines, but the most frequent one is subcutaneous injection . The first phase lasts between 8 and 14 days and consists of the injection of FSH, or follicle stimulating hormone produced by the pituitary gland, and the use of a follicular burst inhibitor. This induces the development of follicles during the menstrual cycle, allowing the ovaries to produce more mature eggs. In the case of in vitro fertilization, after ovarian stimulation, the egg is retrieved by means of a transvaginal ultrasound.

Ovarian stimulation: are there any risks?
Ovarian stimulation is not without side effects . During treatment, the size of the ovary – usually the size of an almond – may increase until it looks like an orange. Therefore, women may experience abdominal discomfort, bloating, heaviness in the lower abdomen, and nausea . In severe cases, ovarian torsion, requiring immediate medical attention, or ovarian hyperstimulation may occur. Furthermore, throughout the period of stimulation it is advisable to limit all sudden movements, from physical activity to sexual intercourse.
To date, ovarian stimulation has excellent success rates. J-Ax and his wife Elaina Coker became parents thanks to this technique, as well as Angelo Pintus and his partner Michela Sturaro.
