Camel flu is worse than Covid: symptoms and treatment
Camel flu is a serious respiratory syndrome that was first identified in 2012: let's see symptoms and treatment.
First discovered in Saudi Arabia in 2012, camel flu is a syndrome that attacks the respiratory tract. It is a much more aggressive coronavirus than Covid-19, which has a high mortality rate. Let's see what are the symptoms and the cure.
Camel flu: what it is and what the symptoms are
Camel flu, also known as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome ( MERS ), is an acute infectious disease that affects the respiratory tract. As with Covid-19, this form of flu is also caused by a coronavirus and is transmitted to humans by direct contact with a camel or products derived from it. Therefore, it is a widespread syndrome in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman and Egypt. It should be emphasized that human-to-human transmission is not entirely excluded, but we are still studying whether the virus is contracted through contact with objects/people or by air.
As for the symptoms , camel flu can cause: high fever, shortness of breath, chills, headache, body aches and general malaise. Generally, after the first seven days the ailments tend to worsen until the outbreak of pneumonia which creates serious breathing difficulties. Rarely, MERS causes diarrhea , nausea , vomiting , and kidney failure.
Middle East respiratory syndrome: cure and treatment
Camel flu has a very high mortality rate, especially among the elderly and frail. For the moment, considering that MERS was identified for the first time in 2012, an ad hoc vaccine and a specific antiviral treatment have not yet been studied. Therefore, the cure involves intervention on the symptom and eventual hospitalization in intensive care.
This type of flu, like the Australian flu , could cause concern during the period before Christmas, given the high amount of people who will return from Qatar after the 2022 World Cup is over.
