Discover how a Rimini project is transforming kids into healthy eating champions!

The “School with Taste” initiative returns to Rimini, aiming to educate young students on healthy eating and knowledge of fruits and vegetables through interactive activities and workshops.
The “School with Taste” initiative has returned for its second edition at the Centro Agro Alimentare Riminese (CAAR) in Rimini. This educational program aims to teach young students about healthy eating habits and the importance of understanding fruits and vegetables. The inauguration was attended by key figures such as Maria Gabriella Piccari, Vice President of CAAR, Director Cinzia Furiati, and the Deputy Mayor of Rimini, Chiara Bellini. The event welcomed the first two classes from the Alighieri Comprehensive School, marking the beginning of a project that promises to enrich the young minds of Rimini with knowledge about nutrition and healthy living.
Expansion and increased participation
This year, the initiative has seen significant growth, with over 160 children from the Dante Alighieri Comprehensive School, including those from the Madre Teresa di Calcutta, Decio Raggi, and Federico Fellini branches, participating in the program. This increase in participation highlights the growing appreciation for the initiative. The collaborative efforts of Emanuele Pirrottina, the school principal, along with Vice Principal Alessandra Ronci and coordinator Federica Manduchi, have been crucial in facilitating this expansion. Their involvement was evident during the event, showcasing the community’s support and enthusiasm for the project.
Interactive learning and practical experiences
During the activities, students have the unique opportunity to purchase fruits and vegetables directly from the stalls of producers and merchants in the fruit and vegetable market. This hands-on experience is further enriched by the producers who supply products for the workshops and engage with the children’s curiosities. The educational journey continues with games and workshops led by nutritionist Sofia Canini, followed by the preparation of healthy recipes. These culinary activities are guided by Paola Frontini, Director of Ial Riccione, with assistance from teachers and students from the Riccione Hotel School, providing a comprehensive learning experience that combines nutrition education with practical cooking skills.
Emphasizing health and community well-being
Deputy Mayor Chiara Bellini expressed her satisfaction with the continuity of the project, extending her gratitude to Director Cinzia Furiati and the teachers for their dedication. Bellini emphasized the importance of healthy eating, noting that it not only pleases the palate but also offers numerous health benefits that children will appreciate as they grow. She encouraged students to consume adequate portions of seasonal fruits and vegetables to maintain good physical health.
Promoting healthy lifestyles and reducing food waste
Cinzia Furiati shared her enthusiasm for the project, highlighting the appreciation shown by institutions, schools, and especially the students, who actively engage in the activities. The opportunity for children to taste fruits and vegetables, learn about their properties through play, and prepare simple, healthy recipes makes the project a tangible success. It effectively promotes healthy lifestyles and combats food waste within the community, demonstrating the initiative’s potential to instill lasting positive habits in young participants.
