Discover the game-changing Raspberry Pi accessory that powers your devices with a single cable!

The new Raspberry Pi PoE+ Injector provides a seamless power solution for hard-to-reach installations, enhancing the versatility and usability of all compatible Raspberry Pi models.
The Raspberry Pi Foundation has unveiled the Raspberry Pi PoE+ Injector, an innovative accessory designed to power Raspberry Pi devices positioned in locations where traditional power outlets are not easily accessible. By employing Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) technology, this device allows for the delivery of electrical power through an Ethernet cable while simultaneously providing an Internet connection. Introduced in 2025, this accessory promises to be a practical solution for users with challenging installation environments.
The collaboration with Microchip and product compatibility
The development of the Raspberry Pi PoE+ Injector was made possible through a collaboration with Microchip, a renowned name in semiconductor manufacturing. Priced at $25 (approximately 23 euros), this accessory is compatible with all Raspberry Pi models from the 3B+ onwards, which support PoE technology. These models have been available since 2018, marking a significant evolution in the utility of Raspberry Pi devices. The PoE+ Injector requires a standard IEC power cable, which can be easily obtained from authorized Raspberry Pi retailers.
Addressing installation challenges in remote locations
The Raspberry Pi Foundation has highlighted the importance of this product, particularly for applications that require installations in remote or hard-to-reach locations. Such applications include garden webcams and industrial controllers, where powering the device poses a significant challenge. The PoE technology offers an effective solution by enabling the transmission of power from a Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE) to a Powered Device (PD) over the same cable used for Ethernet data. All Raspberry Pi Single-Board Computers (SBCs) released since 2018 can function as PDs if equipped with an optional PoE or PoE+ HAT (Hardware Attached on Top).
The technical workings and advantages of the PoE+ Injector
The Raspberry Pi PoE+ Injector acts as a PSE, delivering power to compatible Raspberry Pi models via Ethernet cables. This feature eliminates the need for a nearby power outlet, simplifying installation by reducing cable clutter. The injector supports the PoE+ standard (IEEE 802.3at), capable of supplying up to 30 watts of power, which is sufficient for powering even the latest Raspberry Pi models and their associated HATs.
Upcoming developments and future applications
Alongside the launch of the injector, the Raspberry Pi Foundation announced the upcoming release of the Raspberry Pi PoE+ HAT+ for the Raspberry Pi 5. This new accessory, touted as the “smallest and most efficient” ever created, will connect directly to the GPIO pins of the Raspberry Pi 5, offering PoE+ support in a compact and integrated format. This development signifies a step forward in making Raspberry Pi devices even more adaptable and user-friendly.
Imagine the ease of installing a Raspberry Pi surveillance camera outdoors, powered through an Ethernet cable connected to a PoE router or switch. Or consider the convenience of powering a home automation control system based on Raspberry Pi, positioned in a ceiling corner, without needing to locate a nearby power outlet.
