To this can also be added serious complications such as intestinal perforation or bleeding.
Typically, the acute phase is treated with liquid feeding , antibiotic therapy, and in more extreme cases with the operation. More generally, it can be said that in the case of diverticulosis, what to eat is the fundamental aspect.

A healthy diet is in fact able to significantly reduce symptoms and ensure that the situation does not worsen. Not for nothing, one of the most common causes of diverticulitis is an incorrect diet . In the case of diverticula, what to eat is therefore extremely important.

Diverticulitis: what to eat

When you suffer from diverticulitis, the recommended diet is usually based on healthy foods and as much as possible untreated. The first thing to add are obviously the fibers given by fruits and vegetables.
It is also important to hydrate well, follow a low-sugar diet and consume foods cooked in a healthy way and then steamed, grilled, in a pressure cooker or with a non-stick pan.

You should therefore minimize fried foods and all those foods that are normally not recommended for a good life. Even irritating foods are to be avoided and fatty foods are added to these.

A diet for diverticulosis should therefore include a low-fat milk breakfast with whole grains.

Lunch should always consist of whole grains such as pasta or rice to be accompanied with vegetables and fresh fruit while dinner can be based on lean proteins and vegetables.
Snacks can be fruit based and extra virgin olive oil should always be preferred as condiments . Obviously these are only indicative and a correct diet should always be seen with a nutritionist who is aware of the specific clinical situation and any other pathologies.
Finally, to feel better, it is recommended to exercise, avoid a sedentary lifestyle and drink plenty of water.
