DIY Carnival costumes: some fun ideas for children
Crepe paper lends itself very well to creating nice and economical Carnival costumes. Creative recycling offers many other fun ideas: let's see some!
Creative recycling offers many possibilities for creating original and fun Carnival costumes. Among these there are those made with crepe paper , especially suitable for extroverted people: we offer you two little tricks, one to create a clown suit and another to create the perfect mask for your tastes.
Make them with (and for) your children!
Carnival costume for children in crepe paper
Do you have a Carnival party, don't want to spend too much money and don't know what to do? Well, you can think about creating one with your own hands !
To make a DIY crepe paper costume you will need:
• Crepe paper scraps in different colors, except green.
• A roll of green crepe paper.
• A colored ribbon.
• A circle of foam rubber , the diameter of which must be a few centimeters wider than the hips of the person wearing the dress.
• A gun fires staples.
• A pair of scissors.
• Vinyl glue.
• Cotton thread.
Now let's get to the procedure . Cut an internal circle in the center of the foam rubber shape, large enough to allow the legs of the person wearing the costume to pass through it easily.
Roll up the scraps of crepe paper individually and secure them around the middle with the cotton thread tightened very well, so that the paper does not unravel. Spread one of the edges of the paper with your fingers to form small ruffles .
With scissors , then make small cuts on the surface of the foam rubber, which are necessary to insert small pom poms created with crepe paper and fix them with vinyl glue. For a better look it is better to arrange the flowers so that no two are of the same color next to each other.
After this, attach a bit of paper over the hole created to recreate a bodice, but if you prefer you can use an old shirt and attach it to the foam.
Attach some ribbons , with metal pins, to what will have become a sort of tutu, so that you can tie it at the waist of the person wearing the costume. Your clown costume is ready!
Paper mask for children
Another fun idea could be to use paper plates as a starting point for a mask.
You will need:
• Paper plates.
• Colored cards .
• Glue stick.
• A pair of scissors .
• A roll of elastic.
Proceed by cutting the paper plate in two. On its surface make two holes for the eyes. Once this is done , proceed with decorating your mask as you like with cardboard cutouts that you will apply with the glue stick. Make two small holes on the sides of your mask to insert the string that will be needed to keep it in place on your face.
These are simple but very cute ideas for creating a costume yourself, but if you want something special you can decide to wear a Carnival dress inspired by the cinema !
