Essential fatty acids: what they are and what they are for
Essential fatty acids are the so-called essential acids for maintaining good health. Let's find out what they are and where to find them.
When we talk about essential fatty acids we mean those that humans (and with them also various animals) should consume daily in order to stay healthy . These acids, in fact, cannot be synthesized by the body and the only way to take them is through food . So here are the efa (essential fatty acids) and in which foods to find them in order to offer the body everything it needs.
Essential fatty acids: that's where they are found
Let's start by saying which are these fatty acids, namely linoleic acid and alpha linoleic acid .
The first belongs to the Omega 3 family while the second belongs to the Omega 6 family. Once also known as vitamin F, these acids can be obtained through food. In this way it is possible to find them both in whole form and in the form of precursors that once acquired can serve as a basis to get to recreate them.
It is enough, therefore, to take linoleic acid and alpha linoleic to obtain all the others that are always part of the same family. But what is the use of taking them? These acids are essential to supply energy to cells, to build cell membranes, to restore blood pressure and to protect against thrombosis , embolism, atherosclerosis, etc … Their presence in the body is also important to combat depression and to facilitate embryonic development.
What are the essential fatty acids in food
Now that we have seen what they are for, let's find out what are the foods that allow you to take essential fatty acids and essential for health. As for linoleic acid, there are first of all pistachios, peanuts, sunflower seeds, extra virgin olive oil, walnuts , etc …
Cod , algae, shellfish, some vegetables and cod liver oil are rich in alpha linoleic acid. Basically, therefore, it is enough to follow a healthy diet, balanced and rich in the right ingredients to be able to count on a good state of health.
