High homocysteine: what to eat to regulate its values
When you suffer from high homocysteine, what to eat can be very important. So let's find out what there is to know about it.
If you have a problem with high homocysteine, what to eat can be essential to live better. This amino acid, in fact, when it rises can represent a problem for the heart .
For this reason, lowering the homocystene is particularly important . Fortunately, it is possible to achieve good results with a targeted diet aimed at reducing foods that are known to contain this amino acid.
The high homocysteine diet
In the case of high homocysteine, the most suitable treatment is that linked to a good diet.
This means following a diet rich in vitamins and therefore based on raw foods or cooked at low temperatures. Among the most suitable are vegetables, fruit, whole grains, eggs, meat (which should be eaten in moderation and preferring the white one) and fish. Furthermore, in order not to aggravate the situation, it may be useful to integrate legumes into the diet.
On the other hand, alcohol, coffee and tea should be avoided as they are known to reduce the absorption of vitamins. And, of course, sugars, syrups and sweets in general should not be consumed.
It is also important to keep in mind that the lifestyle you lead also has an important impact on these parameters. This is why the use of cigarettes should be avoided at least as long as we try to bring the homocysteine values back to the right parameters.
High homocysteine what to do
In addition to the diet, in the case of high homocysteine it can be very useful to take some supplements based on B vitamins. Those based on folates are also useful, such as, for example, folic acid or, even better, 5-methyltetrahydrofolate . . By adding these precautions to a more correct way of eating it will be much easier to lower the values of this amino acid and make them return to the norm in a short time and without encountering too many side effects.
Even exercising regularly will obviously prove useful and will allow you to lower the values faster, removing any possible consequences. Obviously, consulting with the attending physician is always the suggested option in order to model nutrition and therapies based on your condition and any existing pathologies.
