Step into wellness: discover the transformative power of “Walking Together” in Riccione

A new initiative by Alzheimer Rimini aims to promote physical well-being and cognitive health through group walks in Riccione, engaging the community and raising awareness about Alzheimer’s disease.
On March 22, 2025, Alzheimer Rimini announced a groundbreaking initiative designed to enhance physical well-being and cognitive health. This initiative, named “Camminando insieme,” involves a series of twelve group walks organized in collaboration with the Distretto di Riccione and the Centro per i disturbi cognitivi e demenze of Ausl Romagna. Aimed at encouraging socialization and raising community awareness about Alzheimer’s disease, this program embodies a significant stride towards community health and wellness.
Integrating community engagement and health awareness
The series of walks is part of the “Programma attuativo anno 2024 del Piano di zona per la salute e il benessere sociale del Distretto di Riccione,” a project that underscores the importance of health and well-being for the local population. Daniela Angelini, the Mayor of Riccione, emphasized the value of these activities, urging citizens to participate and leverage this opportunity to nurture their physical health while enjoying communal activities. She highlighted the support extended to caregivers who dedicate themselves tirelessly to their family members.
Details of the walking program
The inaugural walk is scheduled for Tuesday, March 25, at 9:15 AM. The walks will take place weekly, every Tuesday, concluding on June 10. Set against the lush backdrop of Parco degli Olivetani in Riccione, these events will run from 9:15 AM to 10:45 AM. The walks will be guided by professional walking leaders responsible for initiating and directing the group, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.
An inclusive and cost-free initiative
The initiative is open to everyone and free of charge. Participants from Alzheimer Rimini’s cognitive health-focused projects are also expected to join. Individuals interested in participating can do so alone or with family and friends, enriching their experience of socialization and well-being. The walks, lasting approximately an hour, will occasionally feature short convivial breaks at a local bar, further fostering community ties.
Convenient gathering spot and additional details
The meeting point for the walks is the public parking lot in front of the Piada d’Oro restaurant, located at via Arezzo, 2, near the Rotonda dei Cavalli on viale Enrico Berlinguer. This location is a stone’s throw away from the Circolo di Buon Vicinato I Villaggi, where Alzheimer Rimini hosts its community activities. This strategic location adds convenience for participants, making it easy to engage in the planned activities.
Enhancing quality of life and community awareness
This initiative represents a pivotal opportunity to improve the quality of life for participants while raising awareness about cognitive health and the crucial role of caregiver support. By engaging the community through these walks, Alzheimer Rimini and its partners are fostering a supportive environment that encourages both physical activity and social interaction, contributing to the overall well-being of individuals and the community at large. As these walks unfold, they promise to fortify community bonds and enhance understanding of Alzheimer’s, making a meaningful impact on the lives of those involved.
