The return of “A scuola con gusto”: a taste-filled journey for Rimini’s young learners

The importance of educating children on healthy eating and lifestyles through the innovative “A scuola con gusto” project by Centro Agro Alimentare Riminese.

The “A scuola con gusto” project by Centro Agro Alimentare Riminese (CAAR) is relaunching with the aim of educating young students on healthy eating habits and lifestyles. With its previous editions hailed as a success, this initiative will resume on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, welcoming children and teachers from participating primary classes. The event will feature the presence of Rimini’s Deputy Mayor Chiara Bellini and the municipal Agriculture Councilor Francesca Mattei, alongside Dr. Rossana Salimbeni, who oversees school meal services for the city’s education sector. This article delves into the project’s activities, its educational impact, and the broader community involvement supporting this vital initiative.

Interactive learning through games and workshops

During the “A scuola con gusto” project, primary school children from Rimini will engage in educational games and hands-on workshops. These activities will be guided by biologist and nutritionist Sofia Canini. Additionally, educators and students from IAL Riccione, a renowned school for hospitality and culinary arts, led by Paola Frontini, will introduce the young participants to concepts of food seasonality and locality. The children will also learn about nutritional values and proper portion sizes, gaining practical experience by preparing light and tasty recipes suitable for different times of the day.

Project expansion and community involvement

Cinzia Furiati, the director of CAAR, has expressed great satisfaction with the project’s return, emphasizing the importance of broadening participation. This year, more than 160 children will experience this educational journey. Furiati noted that “A scuola con gusto” has already proven essential in engaging children and promoting healthy eating practices. Through fun activities and recipes based on seasonal fruits and vegetables, children will take home memorable experiences and useful knowledge for their entire family’s health.

Addressing broader social issues

In a society increasingly affected by eating disorders, CAAR has extended an invitation to the San Patrignano Community for the project’s inaugural day to further raise awareness among participants. Furiati thanked the professionals involved, CAAR staff for their dedication, and the companies supporting the initiative, including Romagna Banca BCC, Cooperativa Co.F.Mo., Orsero, Pink Lady, Marlene, and Dole. She also expressed gratitude to the head teachers and primary school educators from Madre Teresa di Calcutta IC Alighieri, the Federico Fellini Institute, and Decio Raggi of Rimini for their participation in the project.
