Shaded and trendy hair: this is what shatush is, how it's done and how much it costs! A color technique you will fall in love with …
Shaded hair with an almost natural effect, has been in fashion for some years now and is still one of the most used color techniques today: it is shatush, one of the most requested treatments in hairdressing salons. When we want to do something new and change our look, we are not always convinced that we also want to change color. This is why shatush could be a perfect idea since it is a shade that goes to lighten the hair on the lengths . So, the base might not even change… Let's find out more!
What is shatush and its origin
The shatush is a hair lightening technique, branded by the hair stylist Aldo Coppola in 2001. However, the famous hairdresser had already created it in the 70s, and other references were already there a decade earlier in the United States.
The word shatush is of Persian origin and indicates a particular stole of Tibetan antelope from the famous area of Kashmir, home of the most refined weavers. It is precisely in the refinement and skill of the hair stylist that this technique is based, which is done freehand and which lightens the tips of the hair and provides for backcombing vertically along the entire length of the same. It differs from traditional streaks and highlights because it wants to avoid the formation of lines.
Shatush for hair: how is it done?
The shatush technique never goes out of fashion and can be worn both in summer and in winter, indeed especially during the summer the effect could become even more beautiful.
To obtain the nuance, a gradual discoloration is provided: it starts from the natural base of the hair and as you go down the nuance becomes increasingly clear . To get a wonderful effect it would be ideal to stay on the shades of your base, so if we are too dark we cannot be too blonde in the center of the lengths.
Usually to obtain this type of shade the hair is backcombed when dry . For an optimal result, the hair stylist himself will recommend a layered cut and, above all, a wavy style . The waves, which we can safely do at home on our own, make the gradient even more incredible!
But how do you do the shatush on the hair step by step? In reality it is a technique that your trusted hairdresser can do even with your eyes closed given its simplicity (but don't worry, surely to work with your hair it will keep your eyes open). First of all, you need to apply the bleach on the cottoned strands, making sure that the amount of product is more decisive on the tips and decidedly lighter and more nuanced at the root . If you have enough manual skills, you can also opt for a DIY shatush to make at home.
Shatush color: only for blondes?
The answer is very simple: absolutely not. This technique is based on bleaching, therefore it will act on the pigment of the hair (different for each person). So not only those who are blonde can benefit from it, but also for browns and other colors.
If you choose to try shatush, know that you can lighten yourself by 3 or a maximum of 4 tones , the so-called destination color, to maintain the desired and sought-after natural effect. To give an example, if you have copper blonde hair, the lightening will be towards a lighter blonde, depending on the lighter or more marked choice. It is advisable to start with a softer lightening to prevent the hair from being damaged.
Shatush blonde, how it's done
For blond hair, the effect can be on the lightest or even platinum blond.
Brown shatush
The shades in this case can tend to ash blond or golden blond.
Shatush for long and short hair
There are no particular differences in the technique to be used on long hair and medium / short hair. In both cases the result will be satisfactory.
Shatush: what is the price?
There are many people who have tried it and if it has conquered so many hair there will be a reason. The shatush is beautiful only if done right, which is why we need to pay close attention before choosing the hairdresser.
The cost is not very low since it is a long job that also requires the use of specific products to avoid damaging the hair. It can start from a minimum price of 80 Euros up to costing up to 200 Euros. It also changes a lot according to the length and quantity of hair!
Difference between shatush and balayage
Some confuse shatush with balayage, but the difference is minimal, as we always talk about lightening the hair. The thing that changes is the way of application, that is, in balayage the hair is divided into five hens and the streak is done with the brush in length on them; on the other hand, in the shatush, the backcombing of the locks is done before proceeding with the application.
The procedure for both techniques should be repeated about every 3 months , during which period the hair must be kept healthy and nourished.
