How to make puffed rice at home? Delicious process and recipes

How to make puffed rice
The preparation is divided into 4 different moments : cleaning, first cooking, drying and second cooking (in the oven). Ready to get started? Let's see together all the phases for making puffed rice!
The cleaning
First of all you need to treat the rice grains, which must swell sufficiently . And what way to do it if not with water? You guessed it!
- Take the rice and rinse the grains several times until the water is clear.
The first cooking phase
- Once done, take the grains and place them in a saucepan , then fill it with water (as a proportion let's say that for every cup of rice correspond to a cup of water).
- Bring to the boil, leaving it to cook on a low heat for about half an hour . After this time, the rice should have absorbed almost all the water.
During cooking you can add sugar or salt (depending on what you want to do with the puffed rice) or leave it neutral.
Drying
- When the necessary time has passed, spread the rice on a lined baking tray and leave it to dry for about 24 hours.
- You will therefore have to wait a whole day, but if you are in a hurry and want to speed up the time, you can bake everything at 50 degrees for about 6 hours.
Baking in the oven
- Once the grains are dry, cook them in the oven on a lightly greased baking tray for about two hours at 130°C .
- When the necessary time has passed, remove the rice from the oven and let it cool . Et voilĂ , it's ready!
Recipes with puffed rice
Puffed rice cake . You can melt chocolate with butter or other tasty ingredients (ever heard of Mars cake ?), then stir in the puffed rice and leave to cool. A delight ready in no time .
Chocolate puffed rice . Nothing simpler! Place a first layer of melted chocolate on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Then, heat some more chocolate and, once melted, mix it with the puffed rice. Spread a layer of this mixture on top of the chocolate mixture and let it rest.
Puffed rice as breading : a very tasty idea to use this ingredient is to use it as breading . For example, if you want to cook chicken breasts, flour them well, then dip them in the beaten egg and finally in the puffed rice: you'll see what stuff!
Puffed rice in salad : well, this is not a real recipe , but a way to use this ingredient. If you want to give a crunchy note to your salads, try puffed rice!
