Almond butter is excellent spread on bread or used to enrich your breakfasts. Here is the recipe to make it at home.
Today we offer you a quick and easy recipe to prepare an excellent homemade almond butter, a delicious cream obtained from the processing of almonds alone. Compared to classic almond paste, almond butter has a softer and creamier consistency , which is why it can also be used as a spread.
This cream is made only with almonds, without the addition of eggs, sugar, oil or other fats and for this reason it is suitable both for those who follow a vegan diet and for those who follow a raw food diet. Given its nutritional properties such as the high presence of vitamin E and mineral salts, without forgetting the protein intake , almond butter is also suitable for athletes. How to make almond butter recipe
- First you need to toast the almonds if they aren't already toasted. Line a baking tray with a sheet of baking paper, spread the almonds on top and bake in a preheated oven at 150°C for 5 minutes.
- Remove the almonds from the oven, let them cool and pour them into the blender.
- Blend, stopping the mixer from time to time. Depending on the power of your appliance, it may take from 10 to 20 minutes . If you notice that after the first 10 minutes the almonds have not yet begun to turn into a coarse paste, then add a spoonful of seed oil.
- Transfer the butter thus obtained into an airtight jar and store in the refrigerator .
You can use almonds with or without skin . In the first case you will obtain a more rustic and dark colored cream, in the second a lighter and smoother one.

It is possible to prepare this sort of butter using all types of dried fruit : not only almonds but also walnuts, hazelnuts, cashews and pistachios or, why not, a mix of your choice. For example, we love peanut butter !

Since you are surely wondering, here's how to use almond butter. Just like the peanut one, it is excellent spread on toast or bread and combined with fresh fruit. Try it with sliced apples or pears and you won't regret it.
It is also excellent for giving a particular note to porridge , whether cold or hot. Staying on the subject of breakfast , try it with waffles and pancakes . We then also used it instead of tahini sauce in the preparation of hummus and the result was truly sensational.
Conservation
The almond butter prepared following this recipe can be stored in the refrigerator for approximately a week in a glass jar and tightly closed with the lid.
