Cake in air fryer
We prepare a tasty torteno in the air fryer, a rustic Neapolitan traditional cake with a genuine filling.
Air fryer torteno is a typical Neapolitan product. Linked to a long tradition, this dish is loved by everyone and also prepared in the rest of Italy. It is a savory and rustic cake , presented in the shape of a donut. The tasty dough contains a completely genuine and particular filling. According to the original recipe, this cake contains a filling made of cured meats, such as salami, cooked and raw ham, eggs and cheese, such as provolone.
Preparing the cake recipe in the air fryer
- Start with the dough, heating the water in a saucepan on the stove. When it is lukewarm, turn off the heat, immerse the yeast and mix until it dissolves completely with the sugar.
- In a large bowl, pour the flour after sifting it . To this, add the water and yeast mixture little at a time, mixing carefully.
- Knead to absorb all the liquid and add a pinch of salt.
- When you obtain a smooth and soft dough, place it in a clean bowl and cover with cling film.
- Let rise for 2 hours, until the dough doubles.
- After this time, place the dough on a floured surface and roll it out with a rolling pin.
- Once you have obtained a thin, rectangular sheet, distribute the salami and provola cheese, first cut into cubes, on top.
- Also cut the hard-boiled eggs into pieces and add to the filling, then finish with a sprinkling of grated cheese.
- Roll up the pastry, starting from one of the long sides; with this roll form a donut, joining the two ends.
- Cover it with a clean cloth and let it rise for another 1-2 hours.
- Subsequently, move the torteno to a baking tray and place it in the air fryer basket; cook at 170°C for 25-30 minutes .

The Neapolitan torteno in the air fryer is a much loved typical product, which will make Sunday lunch special. You can keep it for a maximum of 2 days , covered in cling film.
