Chestnut semifreddo

Chestnut semifreddo is a dessert with a particular flavour, but simple to make at home. The recipe does not require cooking (except for the chestnuts which must be previously cooked in the oven), but only a little effort and a few minutes. The dough is prepared immediately and with few ingredients, after processing it becomes creamy and enveloping on the palate .
The peculiarity of this dessert is its taste: the flavor of chestnuts is central. The main ingredient makes the entire dessert truly special, with a purely autumnal aroma. You can serve it at the end of a lunch or as a snack, for a refreshing break.
Preparing the recipe for chestnut semifreddo
- To begin, prepare the chestnuts. Then, cut the lower part of the shell with a knife, forming a cross.
- Take a baking tray with low edges and line it with a sheet of baking paper. Arrange the chestnuts on it.
- Bake them in the oven at 180°C for 25 minutes.
- Once finished, let them cool and peel them; then, chop them very finely with a knife.
- Place them in a bowl and add the honey and rum. Mix to obtain a creamy mixture.
- In another container, pour the cold cream and whip it until stiff with an electric whisk.
- Separately, combine the eggs with the sugar and beat them with an electric mixer, you can also pasteurize them if you are not sure of their origin.
- Pour the whipped cream over the egg and sugar mixture and mix together with a spatula.
- Subsequently, add the creamy chestnut-based mixture, mixing everything well.
- Pour the mixture into a mold and place it in the freezer for at least 3 hours.
- Once finished, let it cool for a few minutes at room temperature and serve.

Chestnut semifreddo is a delicious and refreshing dessert, suitable for any occasion. You can keep it in the freezer for 1 week .
