When the beautiful days begin to make their way and outdoor lunches with family or friends become more frequent, you can whip up a dessert that is as simple as it is delicious , also excellent to prepare in advance. We are talking about chocolate semifreddo, a dessert made with very few ingredients.

Chocolate lovers will be infinitely grateful to you for this recipe and you will, almost effortlessly, get everyone to agree. Here's how we prepare it with cream, condensed milk and chocolate to obtain maximum flavor and meltability.

How to prepare the chocolate semifreddo recipe

  1. Chop the dark chocolate with a knife and melt it in a bain-marie , stirring often. Set aside and let cool.
  2. In a bowl, combine the cream and condensed milk and whip everything with an electric whisk.
  3. First add the icing sugar then the melted chocolate and finish working.
  4. Line a plum cake mold with cling film then pour in the mixture, leveling it well with a spatula. Alternatively you can use single-portion aluminum or silicone molds.
  5. Leave in the freezer for at least 4-5 hours before serving.

To obtain the right consistency of the chocolate semifreddo when it is served, remove it from the refrigerator half an hour in advance . You can accompany it as desired with berries or chopped dried fruit.

Chocolate semifreddo with eggs

To make a version of this semifreddo that includes eggs, prepare the syrup by replacing the icing sugar with 90 g of granulated sugar . Add 25 g of water and put on the heat to obtain a syrup which will be brought to 121°C.

Whip 4 egg yolks with an electric whisk, slowly adding the syrup, then add the whipped cream with the condensed milk and the chocolate melted in a bain-marie. Leave to harden in the freezer for 6 hours inside a plum cake mold.

We recommend you also try the lemon semifreddo , fresh and delicate, excellent to serve perhaps at the end of a substantial barbecue.

The chocolate semifreddo will keep in the freezer for up to 1 month .
