Countdown to the 2025 summer sales: Mark your calendars for July 5th!

The summer sales of 2025 are approaching, offering consumers a chance to grab deals, but it is essential to be aware of the starting dates and regional variations to make the most of these opportunities.

The anticipation for the summer sales of 2025 is building as Confcommercio has officially announced the start dates and regulations to ensure fair trading practices. The sales will commence on July 5, 2025, for most regions in Italy, with some exceptions. Each region has specific rules regarding the duration and promotional restrictions, making it crucial for consumers to be informed to maximize their shopping experience.

Commencement of summer sales 2025

The official start date for the summer sales season in 2025 is July 5. This date applies uniformly across all regions, except for the autonomous provinces of Trento and Bolzano. While the start date is consistent, each region has the autonomy to manage its sales calendar, allowing for variations in duration and promotional practices. For instance, in Abruzzo, Basilicata, and Calabria, the sales will last for 60 days, with Basilicata imposing a ban on promotions 30 days prior and Calabria 15 days prior to the sales start date.

Regional variations in sales durations

Regions like Friuli Venezia Giulia will have extended sales until September 30, allowing merchants to offer promotions throughout the year. In contrast, Liguria will have a shorter sales period ending on August 18, with a 40-day restriction on promotional sales. Lazio and Lombardia will see sales ending on September 2, with a promotional sales ban of 60 days in Lazio and 30 days in Lombardia.

Specific rules for various Italian regions

In Marche, the sales will conclude on September 1, while Molise will enforce a 30-day ban on promotions both before and after the sales. Piemonte will adhere to the standard two-month sales period starting July 5, but Puglia will limit discounted sales to 15 days before the start date. Sardegna will not have notable changes in its sales period.

Prolonged sales periods in select regions

Sicilia will enjoy a longer sales period until September 15, with promotional sales permitted throughout the year. Toscana and Umbria will follow the traditional sales calendar without deviations. In Valle D’Aosta, the sales will extend until September 30, while Veneto will conclude its sales by August 31.

Essential shopping tips during the sales

To enhance the shopping experience during the sales, Confcommercio advises consumers to keep certain guidelines in mind. The option for exchanges is at the retailer’s discretion, but returned items must be undamaged. Retailers are obligated to accept credit card payments, with a preference for cashless transactions emphasized by Confcommercio.

Moreover, it is crucial for retailers to display the original price, the discount percentage, and the final price clearly. This transparency is intended to facilitate informed purchasing decisions and ensure a satisfactory shopping experience for consumers.
