Fish and chips in air fryer
Perfect for a comfort food family dinner, air fryer fish and chips are prepared without frying.
One of the typical dishes par excellence of English cuisine are fish and chips. Considered to all intents and purposes street food , they are sold in paper cones and accompanied by the most disparate sauces. Today, however, we want to reveal to you how to prepare fish and chips in the air fryer, a recipe that the whole family will agree on.
We will therefore have to prepare fish fillets , bread them and fry them in the fryer. As for fish, both hake and cod are fine, fresh or frozen. The chips, on the other hand, you can decide to prepare from scratch or opt for pre-fried frozen ones.
How to prepare the fish and chips recipe in the air fryer
- First, if you use frozen fish , you will need to defrost it in the refrigerator overnight. The following day, dab it with kitchen paper to remove excess water.
- Prepare the ingredients for the breading: on one plate the flour, on one the breadcrumbs and on another the eggs beaten with a pinch of salt.
- Dip the fish fillets first in the flour , then in the egg and finally in the breadcrumbs and, as they are ready, place them in the air fryer basket. Season them with a few puffs of oil spray.
- Prepare the potatoes by peeling them and cutting them into not too large sticks . Transfer them to a bowl and season them with two tablespoons of oil, a pinch of salt and, to taste, some aromatic herbs.
- Distribute them around the fish and cook at 200°C for 20-25 minutes .
Serve your fish and chips in the air fryer while it is still hot, accompanying it with sauces of your choice. If the basket is too small for the doses indicated , you can cook the fish first and then the potatoes . Three minutes before the end of cooking the potatoes, place the fish fillets on top of them so as to heat them before serving.
You can also prepare fish and chips in the oven , ideal if there are many of you in the family!
storage
We recommend you enjoy the freshly made fish and chips. If you have any leftovers, however, they can be kept in the refrigerator for a couple of days. Reheat them in the fryer or oven before serving.
