Grape jam
Grape jam is a fruit jam that is very simple to make and yet very original, also delicious to taste directly on a slice of bread.
Today we are preparing a delicious grape jam, ideal for your breakfast , perhaps spread on a slice of bread with a thin layer of butter, but also to accompany homemade cakes and desserts and a fabulous selection of cheeses! The procedure for preparing it is very easy and follows the classic steps that must be followed to prepare the most classic jams.
To make it, it's not so much about choosing the type of grape (we used the black one), but rather using grains that have reached the right ripeness , which will make it sweet and rich in flavour. Let's get started right away!
How to make black grape jam
- Let's start cleaning the bunches. Take them and rinse them under cold water , then open all the grapes and remove the seeds, but leave the peel , which will give a more rounded flavour.
- Place the grapes in a saucepan and add the sugar, then begin the cooking phase over medium-low heat. Once the grapes begin to melt and boil, close with a lid and leave on a very low heat for about 50 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent it from sticking to the edges.
- When the consistency is nice and thick you can decide to blend everything with the immersion blender in order to obtain a smooth jam.
- Test the saucer to make sure the jam is ready or measure the temperature of the compote which should be 108°C.
- Turn off the heat, fill the sterilized jars and close them with a new cap. Turn them upside down so that the heat creates a vacuum. Label them with the production date and place them in the pantry.
If you want a less intense flavour, you can also add a few pieces of apple (about half an apple for half a kg of grapes). If you want to speed up the preparation, you can use a variety of seedless grapes .
If you like the idea, know that you can also prepare it with white grapes or the very sweet strawberry grape jam .
Here is a video where you can see the preparation of this delicious jam. As you will notice, it can also be made without a blender, using a manual food mill. The result will still be excellent!
