How to cook pumpkin in the microwave
In 15 minutes you will have a perfectly cooked pumpkin without any effort. Here's how to prepare pumpkin in the microwave.
Pumpkin is the queen of autumn but it's hard to peel it, portion it, cook it… that's why we looked for an alternative way to prepare it that would reduce the effort but above all the time. Hence the idea of cooking pumpkin in the microwave.
By taking advantage of the power of this appliance, the pumpkin cooks to perfection in just 15 minutes and is ideal both for enjoying as a side dish and as a starting point for other recipes. In fact, you can cook it either in the crisp dish , for thin, firm slices, or in the traditional way for a tender pumpkin.
How to prepare the pumpkin recipe in the microwave
- First, clean the peel with a damp cloth to remove any residual soil. This is essential because we are going to cook it with all the peel.
- Then cut it into slices approximately 4 cm thick using a fairly large knife (take a look at our tips on how to clean the pumpkin ).
- Place them on a microwave-safe dish and cook at 750w for 15 minutes. If your oven has a different power, adjust accordingly, testing the cooking with a fork.
- When it is tender , the pumpkin is ready to be used. Drain it from any vegetable liquid released and use it as you prefer.
Pumpkin in the microwave with crisp function
To cook pumpkin in the microwave with the crisp function, get the appropriate plate, cut the pumpkin into slices of approximately 7-8 mm and season them with oil and rosemary. Cook in the relevant crisp mode (or microwave + grill) for about 10 minutes , turning it halfway through cooking.

Conservation
Pumpkin cooked in the microwave can be stored in the refrigerator, well covered in cling film, for 2-3 days .
