Origin and history of Worcester sauce
The history of Worcester sauce is truly original. It seems, in fact, that an English governor returning from Bengal asked two pharmacists to reproduce an Indian sauce . The two got to work, achieving disastrous results. The starting ingredients were in fact correct but the final flavor of the concoction was abominable.
After forgetting about the sauce in a bottle and retrieving it years later , it was discovered that aging had benefited it. Who were the two pharmacists? Mr Lea and Mr Perrins, the founders of the well-known brand of Worcestershire sauce. Since 2005, Heinz has owned the brand.
