Caramelized pears are a really simple recipe to prepare, perfect to serve as a quick dessert with a scoop of ice cream.

This happened to us so many times that we ended up making an entire arsenal of dessert recipes that can be made in under 30 minutes . Among these there are caramelized pears which, in their simplicity, are the perfect dessert for all occasions .

In fact, all you need to do is accompany the caramelized pears in the pan with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream and you're done. How to prepare caramelized pears in a pan

  1. Combine the peeled, halved and cored pears , the wine , the sugar and, if you wish to prepare caramelised pears with cinnamon, also two sticks of this spice in a pot that is not excessively large compared to the space occupied by the fruit. Alternatively, cloves or star anise are excellent.
  2. Cover and cook until the pears are tender when pierced with a toothpick. Depending on the size of the fruit it will take 15-20 minutes .
  3. Once ready, temporarily transfer them to a plate, leaving the syrup in the pot.
  4. Raise the heat and let the caramel reduce.
  5. Serve the caramelized cooked pears with the syrup and a scoop of ice cream.

Caramelized pears: some variations

Caramelizing pears is a truly brilliant idea when you don't know what to serve as dessert . The recipe for caramelized pears, in fact, as we have mentioned, lends itself to different variations . You can add cinnamon, vanilla pod, cloves or cardamom for a spicy version , or replace some of the sugar and make honey caramelized pears. In this case use 100 g of sugar and 100 g of good quality honey .

Caramelized baked pears are prepared in a similar way. Peel the pears, cut them in half and remove the core, then place them in a baking dish lined with baking paper. Mix the wine with the sugar, pour it over the pears and add spices to taste. Cook at 180°C for 30 minutes or until the pulp is tender.

Conservation

Store the pears with their syrup in an airtight container in the refrigerator for a maximum of two days. If necessary, reheat them slightly in a pan or in the microwave before serving.
