Thermomix lentil soup

How is lentil soup made? Here is the traditional recipe with the Thermomix (also for the variant with canned lentils).

Today we are preparing a perfect dish to warm up a cold evening with family or friends: lentil soup with the Thermomix. This legume soup is truly fantastic and can be flavored in many different ways. We opted for a classic recipe , with an Italian-style sauce, a little tomato… but lots of flavour!

Let's see the recipe and some variations of the preparation immediately. And speaking of variations… for a super soup, add some bacon while you fry the vegetables or opt for canned lentils for an express soup, when you just don't know what to cook for dinner. In both cases you can use any Bimby model (TM5, TM6 and TM31).

Ingredients

For the lentil soup with the Thermomix

  • Lentils – 250 g
  • Onion – 1
  • Carrot – 2
  • Potato – 1
  • Water – 700 g
  • Tomato puree – 200 g
  • Dice – 1
  • Extra virgin olive oil – 20 g
  • Salt – to taste
  • Pepper – to taste

Preparation

How to prepare the lentil soup recipe with the Thermomix

A few hours before (3-4) soak the lentils . If you forget to do it, just below you will find the variant with canned lentils.

Peel the onion , cut it into coarse pieces and chop them in the bowl for 5 seconds. speed 6 . Spatulate the bottom and repeat the step.

Add the oil and brown for 3 minutes. 100°C speed Soft. In the meantime, peel the potatoes and carrots and cut them into cubes of about half a centimeter .

Drain the lentils , rinse them under running water and place them in the bowl together with the tomato puree, the diced vegetables, the water and the stock cube. Cook for 40 min. 100°C speed Soft Counterclockwise. During cooking, if it dries out too much, add more water directly from the hole in the lid.

Five minutes before the end of cooking, add salt and season with freshly ground pepper .

You can serve it like this, just with a drizzle of raw oil, or enrich it with croutons . Given the cooking times, it is also possible to add barley or spelled (100 g) and make it a complete dish. In this case, however, it will be necessary to add more water during cooking because the cereals will tend to absorb a lot of it.

Canned lentil soup

By using canned lentils you will be able to create this recipe while spending much less time in the kitchen. Add them at point 4 together with the other ingredients. You will need half of the water. Cook for 20 min. 100°C speed Soft Counterclockwise. The soup is ready when the vegetables are tender and even in this case you can adjust the consistency by adding a little water.

Conservation

The lentil soup will keep in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Alternatively you can freeze it, preferably already divided into portions, for up to 3 months.
