Orange marmalade with peel
The rustic flavor and particular consistency make orange marmalade with peels one of our favorite recipes.
When it comes to homemade preserves , as you know by now, no one can stop us. We love experimenting because they are an excellent way not only to approach self-production, but also to rediscover genuine flavours. So when it occurred to us to prepare orange marmalade with the peels, it didn't take us long to get to the stove.
We already imagined its sweet and bitter flavor at the same time, the rustic consistency and the pleasure of having such a delicacy waiting for us at breakfast. We spread it on the biscuits but we certainly don't have to give you advice on how to enjoy it! The orange marmalade with peels with grandma's recipe also represents an excellent gastronomic gift so you should prepare a few more jars or your friends will run out of stock!
How to prepare the recipe for orange marmalade with peels
- First, make sure you use organic, untreated oranges . Then prick them all over the surface with a toothpick and place them in a bowl full of water for 24 hours. This step serves to make them less bitter and thus obtain a preserve with a well-balanced flavour.
- The following day, dry them and remove the zest using a potato peeler.
- Boil the peels for 15 minutes then drain and chop them with a knife. If you want, you can reduce them to a paste by blending them with a small food processor.
- In the meantime, combine the peeled oranges (remove the white part) with the same weight of sugar , the lemon juice and the zest in a larger pan.
- Cook for an hour , stirring occasionally. If necessary, use a slotted spoon or spoon to remove the foam that forms on the surface.
- For a more homogeneous consistency, blend everything with an immersion blender then proceed with the saucer test .
- Once ready, transfer to sterilized jars , close with a new cap and turn upside down until completely cooled. Your jam is ready to be put in the pantry.

Conservation
Like all homemade jams, orange jam can also be kept in the pantry for over a year. Once opened, however, it should be placed in the refrigerator and consumed within a couple of weeks.
