Peanut butter with the Thermomix
It's really simple to prepare peanut butter with the Thermomix: just one ingredient is needed, the legendary American peanuts!
A self-respecting peanut butter must contain only peanuts. In fact, it is the toasted peanuts that give this spreadable cream its characteristic flavour. The best route you can take is to prepare peanut butter with the Thermomix: with its power it is able to give you a cream of the right consistency without the need to add anything else.
In the original version, in fact, peanut butter includes a single ingredient . There are richer versions, however, which add sugar or honey or, even more often, oil to aid in the preparation of the cream. However, we will reveal to you how to prepare peanut butter with the Thermomix recipe (valid for all TM5, TM6 and TM31 models ) without any additions . Ready?
How to prepare the peanut butter recipe with the Thermomix
- First, get some quality peanuts that have a nice crunchy shell, a sign that they have not absorbed moisture. Peel them, remove the skin and transfer them to the Thermomix jug. We do not recommend using already shelled or salted peanuts: the result would not be the best. However, it is important that they are toasted or you will have to do it yourself (peeled, in the oven at 170°C for 10-15 minutes)
- Now blend at speed. Turbo for a couple of minutes , stopping the blades from time to time and gathering the peanuts at the bottom of the bowl, using a spatula.
- If you notice that the blades are overheating , stop and wait for them to return to room temperature. With a little patience the peanuts will begin to release the oil they contain, giving you an amazing consistency.
- If you prefer it crunchier , i.e. more crunchy, leave a few pieces of peanut instead of blending completely.
- Transfer the homemade peanut butter into a glass jar, close and place in the refrigerator .
In this video you can see the change in consistency during the various phases. We preferred to use more peanuts not only to have more butter but also because it is easier to obtain a smooth peanut butter if there are a lot of them.
If you don't have a Thermomix, don't despair: you can prepare peanut butter even without the famous robot!
As mentioned then, it is possible to make some additions to the basic recipe to make it richer and tastier but also easier to work with and preserve. Add 1 teaspoon of sugar or honey to make the butter sweeter and turn it into an excellent cream to spread on bread for breakfast. Instead, inserting 20 g of peanut oil will help you obtain a more homogeneous cream.
Conservation
Peanut butter prepared with the Thermomix can be kept in the refrigerator for about 15 days . It is not recommended to freeze it.
