Sandals with winter socks? Absolutely, catwalks don’t lie

Sandals and socks

The most discussed combination of all time is back and wearing it is no longer a sin: this winter sandals and socks are allowed together

A few summers ago the greatest sin ever was to go out in slippers and socks – a super VIP trend -, a similar story could reappear with the tendency to fish out summer sandals or maybe choose an exclusively winter model and wear it with a pair of tights, socks or knee-highs. In reality, this trend is also made sexy and attractive by the great season in which stockings are (re)living: a precious second skin of rhinestones, geometric designs, semi-transparent in lurex or perhaps plain but soft and warm, allowing us to wearing mini skirts and short dresses. A more than valid reason that often finds in second-hand looks sandals the perfect shoe for a chic and sensual touch.

Socks and sandals in winter: the trend that's a bit street and a bit chic

From a sustainability point of view, actually thinking of being able to wear summer sandals by including them in the winter shoes parterre could also lead us to buy a few less pumps. But perhaps it is not only this perspective that has ignited this trend. There is rather a desire to be daring, to go beyond the confines of dress codes in the name of a mix and match that helps make one's style more and more unique.

In fact, the idea was mostly triggered by street style and is of Y2K origin. In fact, in the 2000s sandals and socks were the extreme combination worn by fashion addicts at fashion shows, then street fashion observed and stole. So socks, in terrycloth, nylon, wool, transparent or double, required an ever more fervent imagination to get noticed and become almost one thing with sandals. The wool and terrycloth models in winter can only be the most popular, certainly not very comfortable but at least warm. Also not to be underestimated are tights , which this year are a must-have accessory, ready to enhance any mini dress.

The looks of Dsquared2, Jacquemus and…Chiara Ferragni

When asked which are the coolest combinations to make for wearing tights or socks, the answer comes directly from the catwalks and fashion campaigns, where in winter the need to cover up with layers becomes absolutely fashionable. So don't be afraid to dare with leggings or double tights and socks to show off wearing a pair of sandals, word of Dsquared2 .

– Tone on tone is Jacquemus's favorite dress code to wear this trend that the brand approves of both in summer and winter, preferring below-the-knee leggings for a less cutie and decidedly sexier effect.

Chiara Ferragni also cannot miss the appeal, almost giving us the last certainty that we absolutely cannot say no to this trend. As a Calzedonia ambassador, the influencer loves to show off sandals especially with colored tights such as purple, fuchsia, tone on tone or to be enhanced with a pair of black sandals, also creating prêt-à-porter looks.
