How to prepare the recipe for gnocchi au gratin
- First, finely chop the onion and brown it in a pan with the oil. Add a pinch of salt and let it soften then pour the tomato puree. If desired, add a few basil leaves and cook for 15 minutes .
- Then cook the gnocchi in plenty of salted water. As soon as they come to the surface , drain them with a slotted spoon and add them to the sauce, mixing well.
- Cut the scamorza cheese into chunks and mix it with the sauce. At this stage, if you like, you can also add other ingredients such as diced ham, béchamel or mushrooms.
- Transfer everything into a baking dish , sprinkle with the Parmesan and spread a few knobs of butter on the surface.
- Bake at 200°C for 10 minutes , just long enough for a delicious crust to form. Then serve them piping hot and sparkling.

The idea of ​​preparing gnocchi au gratin with porcini mushrooms is also excellent: in this case, cook 300 g of mushrooms in a pan with a knob of butter , a clove of garlic and some parsley . Once ready, mix them with 500 g of béchamel sauce kept rather fluid and transfer into a baking dish.
