The dress belongs to the wearer: F/W 2023-2024 from yesterday’s to contemporary Miss Dior

Fashion week show

The Dior F/W 2023-2024 collection is a love letter from yesterday's women to today's, which tells of freedom and independence through the maison's wardrobe

Also from Maison Dior the journey through the archives, the look at the past with a nostalgia as new fuel for the present, makes itself felt strongly in the autumn/winter 2023-2024 collection which traces the Parisienne style of the second half of the twentieth century inspired by three iconic women such as Catherine Dior , sister of the couturier, Edith Piaf and Juliette Gréco . For creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri, each collection is an opportunity to reflect on the history of women from yesterday to today and this time in particular, on the evolution of the maison's feminine style.

Dior autumn/winter 2023-2024: Miss Dior, yesterday and today as Catherine Dior

In an abstract garden composed of fabric elements, the Dior models evoke the Parisienne style of the maison, starting from the grace of Catherine Dior, Christian's sister, who strongly loved nature and the beauty of flowers. The look par excellence that has evoked the memory, the white shirt combined with the black skirt, through a crumpled effect that wanted to give the real perception of a dress that has just been put on, discarded, lived in.

Here too the return to classic and retro was evident, far from Milanese experimentation, rediscovering that Grace Kelly bon ton, a glamor that is rediscovered in a strongly elegant key, with a whispered and less audacious sensuality. The creative director thinks about the fashion-body relationship through tactile textures, floral prints, dégradé knits and a soft silhouette, recovering timeless and basic looks, those that represent an undisputed look saver for every occasion.

The ispo looks from the show to be replicated next winter: thin ties, long full skirts, striped peacoats

Also in this case we have seen two grand returns to have and wear in the coming winter: the white shirt and slim tie combo, perfect for an office look as well as to be declined for a party look to focus on a more androgynous and rock style.

But femininity is not set aside, on the contrary it explodes in the long skirts that will be the undisputed protagonists of next winter: from the layered multicolor pleats to the floral ones that seem stolen from our grandmothers' wardrobe, perfect with a blouse or a cardigan to evoke a diva look. Very soft, very long and striped, the most sparkling outerwear of the season promises to be the striped peacoat : part trench coat, part long coat, it expresses the essence of the contemporary Miss Dior.
